About our artwork

All the paintings and collages in our galleries were created with our own hands from scratch. Each one of them has its own story before it is printed on canvas or as a poster and then put in a frame.

We would like to tell you a little about the journey of our works. It comprises of seven stages of artwork.

Obviously, everything starts from our passion to create paintings, observation of nature and the surrounding reality.

STAGE 1

A journey has its magical way to clear our minds and calm the emotions. It is like a portal to a gallery of colours and shapes which stimulate the senses and inspire us. Initially the canvas is blank in our mind. As soon as we let go and get caught up in the here and now of the moment, however, our sensation becomes more focused. Everything tastes different, the sound of waves resembles a symphony orchestra and the blowing wind seems stronger than usual. The images flashing before our eyes are like ready canvases dancing to the frantic rhythm of our emotions. It seems as if the cosmos was having a dialogue with us and boasting with its own beauty and variety of forms. The people we come across, the word we accidentally fish out from a conversation in a café or the gentle aroma of a morning cup of coffee - they all inspire us to paint a new picture. Already at this early stage, when everything is still as fresh as the first blade of grass in the spring we are curious about the final shape of the picture after it has been printed on canvas. The energy that stays with us during our travels is like a thread that stitches everything into one unique breath of life.

STAGE 2

The inspiration and ideas come out of us, invited to dance to the rhythm of emotions and sensations we have gathered from the outside. You have to play with the inspiration just as you would with a child in a sandpit. A good idea cannot simply be invented, it has to be - for the lack of a better word -  bestowed upon us by the cosmos. This can only be achieved when one is focused because, they are free and and at ease, in the moment when the train of thought simply disappears and you are floating somewhere up there, in the air of your own imagination. When the shackles of limitation are thrown off, the light of unfettered awareness reaches out its helping hand to us and brings us to the surface. Soon, the ideas start queuing up to be painted on canvas, just like souls that want to come into existence in our earthly life. It is here, deep within our souls blended together in the  coexistence of everything, where the art starts.

STAGE 3

Photography
A photo camera, just like a good friend, helps us to remember the right moment. Thanks to the camera we can choose the one and only inimitable frame from among hundreds of pictures so that it can be transferred to canvas or paper by printing and then display it at a gallery.
For us photographs are like gifts bestowed upon us by nature. Our cameras have essentially become an inseparable companion of daily life. With time, even their weight has stopped being a burden to carry. The small screen on the camera might appear limiting at first. Nothing could be further from the truth… it is just another element that helps to concentrate on fine details. Peeking into the world of nature through the window of our camera, we carefully browse through the pictures surrounding us at that moment. We slow down our thinking, limiting it to that one particular second in which we can capture the image of the uniqueness of the world. We take all the feelings, moments, shapes and colours captured on the matrix of our camera into the retreat of our studio for further processing.

STAGE 4

Work in the studio. Creativity and design
This stage of artwork is slightly more bound by rules. It may also slightly resemble the work of an artisan. Here, we take into account many different aspects. For instance, we try to put ourselves in our client’s shoes, we ask ourselves how the spectator perceives our paintings at the gallery, what kind of feelings, memories or mood type they would like to create in the decor of their house. We go through the pictures many times. We jot down the ideas suggested to us by our imagination, ponder over the materials, style and canvas or paper size. We select appropriate frames and match the right size.
At this stage, it is also necessary to correct the selected pictures for which we use professional photo editing software, where we frame, retouch and sharpen the colours or adjust light and contrast. The possibilities here are literally endless. We could fill many pages with these details, but perhaps our blog would be more suited for this on another occasion.
Creating an artwork resembles laying down foundations for house walls. It is like priming a canvas stretched out on a fragrant pine frame.

STAGE 5

Painting
We use digital photography and advanced image editing techniques and blend them with modern digital painting methods. This expressive blend of possibilities together with state-of-the-art printing equipment makes it possible for us to create small pieces of art which we can transfer onto canvas, paper and other materials. It may sound slightly serious and complicated but take our word for it, we find this stage of the process the most fascinating. Painting is like meditation for us, a flight into an open space, a connection to cosmos. Inside our heads, it’s all roaring and churning just like foam forming on a choppy sea. Our imagination is working at full speed. One last glance at our gallery, a quick memory refresh, inspiration and… we’re ready to begin! First strokes of the electronic brush on the tablet. A quiet swish of the pen moving across the screen just like a pencil on paper. First forms and colours take shape on the gleaming monitor screen. This time I have decided on a poster using freehand painting and only one type of brush to obtain simplicity and unity.

Digital painting techniques offer a wide array of amazing possibilities make it possible to choose any style or moving about in virtual space where the only artwork limitation is the tight confines of your own mind. Modern software offers about 1000 different brushes and hundreds of settings. It creates huge enjoyment and enables the creation of any design you can think of which finds its reflection in the wide variety of wall art products. Sometimes painting goes smoothly, comes easily and without any obstacles. The work of art comes to life quickly and our eyes can enjoy it in no time. Sometimes your logic comes into play and constantly suggests new ways and ideas, then the artwork stretches out and you start climbing a steep mountain. When this happens, it is good to stop, have a rest and leave the work for a while, to come back to it in an hour or even in a few days. Artwork process is not a race, it is more a meeting of a calm mind with the soul embarking together on a journey in harmony.
When the painting is finished, all that is left is adding a short description of it, describing its history.

STAGE 6

Printout and placement on wooden canvas stretcher
Printing is a routine and technical activity, closely following established guidelines. Attention to detail, good equipment and high-quality materials ensure that we finish with a painting of the highest quality, regardless whether it is printed on canvas or paper.

We use a 10-colour Epson printer in our studio so we are able to achieve the most accurate colours, deep and rich black and thick shadows. The durability of prints is estimated to be around 60 years. We also secure the paintings on canvas with certified fine art satin print varnish in order to protect them from scratches, provide and preserve depth of colour and easy cleaning. Paper printouts, in return, after framing are secured with a glass or plexiglass to protect them from scratches. It is also worth mentioning that the pigment ink that we use are water-based which has huge health benefits because it protects your lungs from breathing in solvent fumes which is obviously the case with solvent inks which we are strongly against. After careful checking, we stretch the canvas on wooden pine frames of varying thickness.

STAGE 7

FRAMING
Every painting has to be treated individually, however, there are some rules for the selection of an appropriate frame which should always be taken into consideration when making a decision. A properly exposed painting creates unity with the framework. It is the picture that is the centre of attention and the frame complements it. It should correspond with the artwork, regardless of whether it is presented on canvas or paper.
Frames on offer at our gallery are made from pinewood or alder wood. We carefully select their thickness, width and shape, depending on the style, size, colour and theme of the painting. Our frames are painted and adorned by hand to give them a unique and inimitable character.

Custom collages are an entirely different project. It is an offer designed for but not limited to private buyers. We all happily meet with our local clients which creates a unique opportunity for family photography and collage is a fantastic form of preserving these moments in an interesting and entertaining way. Also, holiday trips and pictures with memories brought back home and solidified on a collage could be an interesting form of souvenir on canvas. A photo collage can be a blend of people and places, so that everyone who sees them can easily and nicely be transported into your memories.

We have many ready designs at your disposal. Our collage gallery includes a wide array of colours, shapes and unconventional ideas. People looking to have a unique and customised photo collage can get in touch with us and specify their individual requirements.
